Alum Rock Park (San Jose). Large regional park, with beautiful oak woodland, chaparral, and riparian habitats; Santa Clara Valley Chapter habitat restoration project.
Lake Cunningham (San Jose). Large native garden within regional park, established by Santa Clara Valley Chapter members in 2005.
Santana Row / Westfield Valley Fair. West of downtown San Jose. Extensive regional malls with numerous retail stores, dining, movies, etc.
Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum / Municipal Rose Garden. Egyptian artifacts and history, across the street from historic Municipal Rose Garden.
Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. Alviso (North San Jose). Excellent birding opportunities at the bottom of the bay, native plant garden. Scenic trails along levees.

UC Santa Cruz Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Large assemblages of plants from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and California.
Lick Observatory, Mt Hamilton. Scenic drive east of San Jose into the remote Diablo Range. Spectacular views, historic observatory, and interesting post-fire landscape.
